A free first conversation

Let’s talk.

This first hour is simply a chance to talk. Tell me what’s happening, and we’ll start there.

I spent 50 years in medicine, and then I became the patient. I know how much a diagnosis can shake everything at once.

What to expect

What our first hour is like

  1. 1

You tell me what’s going on

Whatever is on your mind. You don’t need to have anything figured out, or even know what to ask.

  2. 2

I listen, and ask a few questions

It’s your hour. If you’d like someone you love to sit in with you, they’re welcome.

  3. 3

We see whether it’s a fit

Together we’ll decide whether coaching is right for you. It’s free, and there’s no obligation.

Choose a time

Pick a time that works for you.

I meet on weekdays. The times show in your own time zone.

After you book, you’ll get an email with everything you need. When it’s time, just click the Zoom link in that email.

Your privacy. Booking only asks for your name and email. It never asks about your diagnosis.

I look forward to meeting you.
James

I know medicine. I’m not here to practice it with you.

Your doctors care for the illness. I’m here to listen, and to support you with the life around it: the fear, the decisions, the people you love, and the plans that still matter.

Before you book

Do I need to know what I want to work on?

No. We start wherever you are.

What if I’m not comfortable with video calls?

That’s common. A family member is welcome to help set up the call, and we’ll keep it simple.

Can I set up the first call for my parent?

You’re welcome to help set it up and join, as long as your parent wants to talk. The conversation is theirs.

What happens after our conversation?

If we both feel it’s a fit, I’ll share how we can work together and what it costs. You decide in your own time.

Is coaching for emergencies?

No. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911. For medical questions, contact your care team.
